So I'm the luckiest redneck in the world my house has a pond on it full of shiners. I trap them in the fall and then transfer them to a tank in the garage for winter. Yup I lose some but I spend $30 a winter on supplies to keep them alive and I go through 20-30 dozen so it's worth it.
I buy local. The local guy here always has spikes in stock. Now mousies are another story. The main shop I used to go to closed during Covid and he has no plans on reopening (entitled customers expecting special treatment or they blast him on Facebook, long hours for little pay, etc).
if this other shop closes I’ll just order online and split them with my buddy
