Grease Tilt Shaft Mercury

While doing my maintenance on the OB today I noticed that there is no way to grease the center fitting on the tilt shaft because the SeaStar power steering cylinder is in the way. I removed the straight fitting and replaced it with a 45 degree grease fitting. Now I am able to get the grease gun on the fitting but when I started pumping the grease in it squirted out of the four bolt holes that are for the cable steering mount. Once again the SeaStar is in the way of me being able to cap these. Poor rigging!
Has anyone else run into these problems?

They work good. I’ve used them on ball joints and universal joints on cars and trucks.
