    Cable Replacement

Anyone replaced throttle and shift cables? I'm hoping I can disconnect both cables and use the old cable to pull the new cable under the deck between the splashwell and side panel without removing the rear deck (again).....it's only a few feet.

Wondering what anyone's luck was in pulling new cables through without removing rear deck. Both my throttle and shift cable are in need of replacement. Both new cables ordered and should be here next week.

I know on the mod vee hulls the cables are ram on top of the deck and are covered by a carpeted cover which actually would make that job real easy. I am assuming that it is not that simple for your boat?

My cables run under the wood/carpet deck in the back and then behind the side carpeted panel. I'm trying to not have to remove the deck as it is a ton of screws. I had it off once before and it was a job. I think looking back at my photos I may be able to only remove the side panel and use each old cable to pull the new cable(s) through from the splashwell to the gunwale, under the deck.

That's a bummer. They're ran the way Transom described on my Classic XL. I'd try pulling them through the way you described, but be ready with the screwdriver.

Yea, and I have a 9.9 kicker on the port side now as well which has two more cables and wiring running through the same route in the foam under the deck, At least the kicker fuel line runs to a different path! So through that starboard side spashwell rigging tube I have throttle and shift cables for both motors, power steering for the big motor, fuel line for big motor and all electrical for both motors. No sweat!

I think you can do what you described. Even if you pull the cables through you could probably use a fish tape.
