Looking for Jigheads - Like Strike King Structure Jigs

Does anyone know anyone making a jighead (with weedguard, etc.) that is close to the Strike King Structure Jig? I like to tie my own skirts, really love that jig head but can't find one.

I've learned that it's really tough to find heavy jigs with 0 degree hooks. The All Terrain Grassmaster is really the only other one I know of that's widely available on the market, and that one is of course a finished jig just like the Structure Jig. The Do-It "Bullet Bass Jig" is the closest I've seen in terms of off-the-shelf molds and it can be had across the gamut of jig weights, but there are several caveats: It's a 30 degree hook instead of the 0 degree, is marketed as a swim jig and takes a lighter wire hook than what you'd find on the Structure Jig, plus I'm fairly confident the mold has been discontinued. Maybe you could find someone who has it to make you some?

Otherwise, there's a small company in Wisconsin, North Star Custom Baits, that makes a jig called the South Paw. That one is another that's only sold as a finished product and technically it's not a 0 degree hook, but the design is such that it fishes a lot like the 0 degree jigs, and I'd wager you could contact the owner and get him to sell you some without the paint and skirts: https://www.northstarbaits.com/jigs.html

I'll be following this one to see if people who are much more in the know than me have a lead on it. I've always felt this was a big hole in the jig mold market, so really interested to see if there's an option out there.

    Check with Munkin

Jig hooks need some angle to provide a keel. Otherwise the bait can roll upside down

Good insight, as always, Mike! I suppose that explains why the 0 degree jigs are so rare.

I did some looking around, and did find a couple things that might help. First, it appears that the All Terrain Grassmaster is sold as a jighead only. They're spendy at over $3 a piece, and in light of Mike's comment I do notice that the head shape isn't going to help with keeling the jig like the shape of the Structure Jig might, and I'm not sure the weedguard will do it. I've admittedly used it almost exclusively as a tool for pitching grass flats and deep grass edges, and will also mention that the weedguard generally needs to be shortened and thinned quite a bit. In case you want to try it: https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/All_...cpage-AXB.html

It also appears that Boss sells one that looks fairly similar to the Structure Jig, though it has a vertical line tie instead of a horizontal one in case that matters to you: https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/BOSS...e-BOSSINV.html

If you are talking about mine then the answer is someday. These have been a complete PITA to get the barbs to pour correctly. I have been working on them off and on for 2 year now trying to fix the problem. Other things have a higher priority right now but I hope to have them figured out within the next 90 days.
