    Checking trim fluid

My engine is tilted up, on the toter, is this the
best position to check the trim fluid?
Trailer is almost level- checked with a level.

    Thx

short answer is no. Engine must be full tilt up position. Fluid should be a the level of the filler screw plug. This is all an educated guess since you have not told us what engine you have.

Also, the pump is not operating smoothly and it’s making noise that isn’t normal.
    Thx

I use a zip tie to check level. Is it screeching when trimming down from full tilt? If so tighten your tilt tube nut on the right side of the motor.

The pump travel isn’t smooth when at the ramp, just taking the toter on and off.
Out board is on the toter in my drive, trailer level, when I opened the fill cap- fluid gushed out.

I have never added to or drained the trim fluid, since I have had it.

Please read my earlier post. If the motor is on the toter then it is still not high enough. The engine must be in full tilt up.
++ to Championman about tightening the tilt tube nut.

Champ is also on target by using the zip tie. They also work very well when checking differentials, transmissions, water in batteries that are hard to get to, plus several other applications.

If making a screeching noise, tilt motor all the way up and HOLD the tilt button for at least 10 seconds after it reaches it full travel up. Then do the same thing while tilting all the way down. It might take 2 or 3 tries to silence the damn screeching noise.
