I put mine in the starboard rod locker towards the bow but still accessible.

This is probably the best place, i have to take my front end apart to get to it! ^^^^

I've liked where I put it. The rod boxes are shallow at the front so its mounted vertically with the bottom basically touching the bottom of the rod locker and the cables attach on top. Slight pain in the butt to get the light pole in and out, but it seems to be the best spot still. Any further away and the transducer cable won't reach.
