    Ford or Chevy?

I started shopping for a new tow vehicle...

Looked at the Ford 150 Lariat and the Chevy Silverado Trail Boss.

What is the better pickup? Ford or Chevy?

    Thanks

    This should be fun.

Personal preference. If it was only between those 2, then Chevy. All brands have their issues. Based on my and my families experiences alone, both are a crap shoot in terms of reliability.

I’m not brand loyal and sounds like neither are you. Drive em, compare every feature down to the door handles vs price and warranty, you’ll figure it out. I do however drive a Ford but I switched to mid-size trucks so Ranger was the no-brainer compared to anything else.

I have to agree, especially from what I have seen the last 5 years or so upfitting trucks. Brand loyalty went out the window for me 20+ years ago. CJ

I’ve had 6 new trucks in the last 17 years. They’ve all been great but in a few months my next truck is going to be either a Chevy or GMC. Only reason is every time I get a new Ford it feels just like my last one. Time for a change and I hope I don’t regret it

Either one will get the job done. Largely a matter of personal preference. Whichever one I could get the best deal on would be my choice.

My experience with both, I bought a Tundra.
Best truck I've owned for years.

Same. I know the op didn’t ask but I agree. If I were going to keep it for a while I think I’d even prefer a used tundra over a new Ford or gm. If I were just leasing or get new every 2-3 years then whatever feels best.

I’ve had 3 new Fords and 3 new GM. Less issues with GM. Fords all had better seats. My 2018 Duramax has been the best truck I’ve owned.

If it's a multipurpose vehicle like most of us have, towing is <2% of it normal use. Both the GM & Ford will tow just fine and provide similar mpgs. Best to figure out the other 98% of what your going to use it for and use that for your selection criteria.

I have one of those brands and it sucks just as much as the other one.

It doesn't matter which one you pick really, unless you get one with a Allison Transmission (Chevy).

I thought about a Tundra. I went to the dealer and he said there is a very long waiting list and time...

So I'm looking at the 2 other option ( No RAMS!) Test drove both the Ford and Chevy... I'm have trouble with both dealers pushing the 2.7L engines...It run smooth but doesn't feel like a truck... any opinions on the 2.7L engines?

if you keep trucks for a longer time go bigger IMHO
they are pushing them because no one bought them and they have lots of them to move likely

My penny worth,, I get a new truck every 2-3 years,, up until 2020 all been fords, 5.3, even the eco boost. 2020 I swapped to a Chevy 6.2 trail boss. 55,000 mi now, mostly well satisfied! Did not have to be leveled,, It looks different, drives great, tows my Lynx well. Negatives would be the wee little gas tank, mirrors don’t fold, etc.
i did order a 23 back in October, but I doubt they build it, so I am good for another yr
Get what you like, either will be good

I have driven Chevy's for 45 years now and I would recommend a FORD. You couldn't get me one of the new Chevy's with Active Fuel management. The Chevy's might get a little more mpg but if you plan on keeping the truck past the warranty period expires, get ready to get you wallet out. AFM repairs start around $3800 and go up to $9,000. It is not a matter of IF, it is WHEN. Everyone that I know (over 50 people) that has owned a Chevy with AFM has had problems and have spent a lot of money. I will never own another GM product.
