Is there a test for a vro pump

1991 Fastrike GLEIS150 wondering if there is a test for vro seems to be smoking more than normal and outside of filling the tank and trying to match how much gas I use and oil consumption which I always forget to mark one or the other ,trying to figure out if vro is a problem runs good otherwise

VRO -- Oil Delivery Volume Test

    ¼ " ID Clear Hose
    Marking Pen
    Hose Clamps
    Outboard Oil

It is important to run the outboard with a 50:1 fuel/oil mixture during this test.

Start the outboard and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Carefully remove the oil supply hose from the OMS pump oil inlet fitting.
Install a length of 1/4 in. (6.35 mm) I.D. clear hose (marked every 1/2 inch for 4 inches). Fill the hose with outboard lubricant and run the outboard to eliminate air from the base of the hose and OMS pump. Shut OFF the outboard and add oil to the hose until the level is above the highest mark.
Start and run outboard about 1500 rpm. Monitor the pump cycles by watching a fuel pressure gauge or putting light finger pressure on the outlet hose. Count the pulses it takes for the oil level to drop 3 inches.
The pump should pulse 6 to 8 times for a 3 inch oil level drop in the clear hose. If your results are different, inspect the pulse limiter and hose connections. Look for signs of severe crankcase leaking and check for low cylinder compression
before repairing or condemning the pump.
