What's your go to floating jerkbait for fishing over shallow weeds?

I've had good luck with the Bagley Balsa BangOLure. They float super high, so I've actually added pieces of suspend strip to slow the float in some situations.

take a look at the floating and suspending rattle baits. They are killer over grass. Quake and IMA both have one.

What size and weight do you prefer? Lots of difference between Rapala F5-F13 and Bomber Long A or floating Smithwicks. FWIW, if you want a big floating jerkbait, the Deps Balisong 130 is awesome for action and not typically seen by most of the fish in North American waters.

FWIW, the Rapala Ripstop stays pretty high in the water column, and casts much better than the Original Floating.

Rapala 11 or a Bang O Lure if your talking about just twitchin it. I think every Long A I have has been turned into a wake bait.

Did you heat up the bill and modify to be more vertical, in order to make the bait wake more?

Lucky Craft Pointer 48 works best for me. 1-2 foot depth keeps it above flooded grass.

My favorites are the Rapalas and floating Smithwick Rattling Rogues, preferably with a bigger bill.

Yes, you don't really need to do that anymore though with all of the other wake baits out there. I mostly fish jointed wake baits now, mostly the SPRO 40 rat or Redfin. The PH one is about the only non jointed one I throw anymore.

Used to throw Redfins, but once I fished a Berkley Jointed Surge Shad, I stopped throwing the Redfin.
