    Adding trailer underneath lighting

Don't know if this is the correct thread or not but I want to add underneath trailer lighting to be able to see to load the boat after dark. Reasonable quality lighting and where to install it on the trailer. A source for the lights and best place for making the connection into trailer wiring? Thx folks! K

Fine for loading but check your state laws as per pulling down the road.

Also as an addition have you considered adding lights to the rear of your truck? Not saying instead of trailer lights but in addition to. I have 2 pods in my rear bumper and a couple 24” bars under the front bed rail, it’s bright. You may not want that much but a couple pods under the rear bumper throw back a lot of light.

I ordered some LED rock lights from amazon and attached them underneath the bunks. These kits are nice because they are multi-color, include all the wiring/connectors for installing them, and have a controller with a wireless remote.
I installed the controller in a small clear plastic box underneath the winch plate, and wired it to the trailer running lights.
The remote is great - I can turn them off when going down the road, turn them on when launching/loading, and change the color. There are also color changing "effects" but I'm not big into disco, so don't need/use them. lol.

View from the boat when loading (murky water):

Here's a link to the rock lights. These are IP68 rated.

Not necessary. My trailer’s marker lights & tail lights provide plenty illumination when submerged, and my truck’s tail lights provide plenty illumination of the winch stand, roller, and center bunks.

I installed these a couple of years ago under my trailer, stuck them right to the bottom of the frame in front of and behind the tires, and wired them into my trailer running lights. They are white so didn't have to worry about red or amber. They aren't obnoxiously bright and I haven't had any issues with the police here in Michigan. I'm planning to add them to my new boat/trailer too.

D814E102-DEC4-4846-B011-DBC25EAD71F6.jpegBetween the fenders on a cross member, i put a pair of 18" bluewater LEDs and tapped right into the marker light, the red is to the rear like tail lights or "line of fire" under the tail gait of trucks, the light bulbs are not visible when the boat is on the trailer, have driven in a couple states for like 30,000 miles no issues
