    Air Fryer Question

I have thought about a Air Fryer, but not taken any action. What is everyone experience with a Air Fryer? Do they cook items good (french fries, etc) and would you recommend one. What would be the best size Air Fryer for 2 adults.

In laws got us one last year and my review is that it is "solid". It doesn't come close to actually frying something even though others have said it comes close. It is marginally better than a convection oven in terms of crisping- but I guess it is just a convection oven with a little more air. It definitely hasn't replace most of my frying.

We have had a few over the years. The plain old non digital Phillips gets it done. My wife and I use a XXL fryer more than the stove.

We barely use ours. Just not good despite what people say. They must not be used to good cooking.

My son got us one a few years back, probably would not have bought one on my own.....LOVE IT!!! Sure it's fine for the usual stuff you'd expect, but they are so much more versatile than that. Reheat 2 day old pizza in it...makes it like it was the night you got it. Got a couple biscuits leftover in a zip lock?...couple minutes makes them warm and crispy. Does good on the little meatballs. I have even started doing green beans, Brussel sprouts and other vegetable's you might grill in mine. My advice would be to get the bigger model so you have more room.

I use my air fryer over every tool in the kitchen. You can put everything in it! Use a little oil spray or a bit of oil on what ever you put in it. Not much. Veggies are awesome when you put them in a ziplock with some salt, pepper, brown sugar. Red pepper flakes or cayenne and a bit of oil. Shake up and dump them in fryer for 10-15min.

Since we got a small convection oven and our range has one, we don't use the air fryer anymore. The results are the same with all 3. Buffalo wings, it'll take you a time or two to get your timing right, but they are very easy to do and relatively quick. As janky mentioned, probably the best way to reheat a lot of foods. I have made french fries from potatoes before and they turned out good.

I think it is remarkably close. What is your process?

Philips invented them and they still have the edge. Great little appliance.
While they're not everything, they do certain things very well, easily.

    https://www.usa.philips.com/c-p/HD9270_91/essential-airfryer-xl

French fries, chicken wings, pork tenderloins & chops, egg rolls as well.

Easy to clean. The unit linked above it's considerably quiet, very quiet.
And it's actually much quieter than the more advanced Philips unit.
Save $$ and stay with the Essential series. Two year warranty on them.

P.S. I'm very capable in the kitchen and find air fryers have a purpose.
In addition, they don't heat up your kitchen. About 1/6 the electric too.

Yep my main oven has a convection setting…pretty much the same thing as an air fryer. Use that setting a lot…speeds up baking times as well.
