For women, give me Patty Loveless
For women, give me Patty Loveless
I like most genres of music but on the female voice end number #1 ? I would say Aretha Franklin.
B.J. Thomas ("Hooked on a Feeling"), Avi Kaplan ("Change on the Rise"), David Michael Draiman ("The Sound of Silence" live on Conan), or Adele ("Set Fire to the Rain"). The vocal/singing range of all four is unbelievable.

Robert Plant
Jim Morrison
Jon Anderson
Steve Walsh
Ann/Nancy Wilson
Whitney Houston
Amy Lee
Annie Lennox
Emmy Lou Harris is one of my favorites.
Michael Poulson is my favorite contemporary voice right now
Volbeat has been described as if Elvis, Johnny Cash and Metallica had a baby.....

I'm not saying they are the best but Lzzy Hale and Amy Lee have great voices. This video is from a phone, no filters.

Saw Heart 3-4 times in concert at the height of their popularity in the 70s. Besides being fine as frog hair the Wilson sisters, especially Ann, could rock the house. But, Linda Ronstadt will always be my favorite female rock singer.
