Strike King Baby Z Too vs. Z-Man StreakZ 3.75"

The smallmouth drop shot thread reminded me about something I've long wondered, but didn't want to hijack that thread..

Can anyone that has used both the Baby Z Too and the StreakZ 3.75" confirm whether they're actually different? The Baby Z Too is listed at 3.5" while the StreakZ 3.75" is obviously listed at 3.75", but it seems unlikely Z-Man would devote entirely different runs to making them both separately. Plus, the other Strike King Elaztech baits seem to have exact clones in the Z-Man lineup. For example, SK Zero = Z-Man ZinkerZ, SK Super Finesse Worm = Z-Man Floating Worm, and I'm almost positive the (full size) SK Z Too = Z-Man StreakZ.

It stands to reason then that the downsized version of the StreakZ would be a clone of the downsized Baby Z Too. Yet you never hear about people using the StreakZ 3.75", it's always the Baby Z Too. If there's actually a difference between the two, I suppose that would explain why. Accordingly, I've only ever grabbed the Baby Z Too and have never actually handled a StreakZ 3.75" to compare.

I thought about the same thing but always forgot to look. I believe I have both as well, I'll try and remember to look later.

I’ve got both. I honestly thought they were the same. Doesn’t Strike King pay ZMan for some patents?

Z-Man makes all the "3X" plastics for Strike King. They're Elaztech, just like the rest of the Z-Man lineup. I'm 99% sure that "OEM" type work was how Z-Man got its start, first with skirts, then with soft plastics for Strike King, then they acquired the Chatterbait from RAD which obviously took off and they started doing more stuff under their own name brand.

But to answer the question: Yes, for at least one. Strike King licenses the blade connection for the Thunder Cricket from Z-Man since Z-Man owns the utility patent on that.

Pretty sure zman got elaztech from strike king, but i could be wrong.

I fish them both, but i use the zman since they're cheaper per bait. No difference that i can tell!

If you believe what Z-Man says, it seems that Elaztech was theirs all along: https://fishingtackleretailer.com/th...ech-softbaits/
