    NRX + 854 JWR

Wanted to see how many guys spent time with this new + version of the 854 ?

I myself was never a fan of the previous Gen NRX 854 JWR.
It never felt like it had a sweet spot …
However this new + 854 JWR feels like a whole different stick.

The Spiral wrap on the Plus seems to give this model new life and I have been very impressed with it.
    I enjoy it most throwing 5/16 & 3/8 Jigs.

I also do have the 873 NRX + and I feel like 1/2 ounce jigs fish perfectly on it.

Like to get everyone’s thoughts on it ?

I have a both of those in the + version , use the 854 for a dock skipping rod , mostly with a 1/2oz jig,,, have two of the 873's and use them for most things Texas rigged and for dragging 1/2 & 3/4oz football jigs ,, just can not say enough good things about the 873,,,

Yes … the 854 fishes about 1/2 power lighter.
Crazy as it may sound…. The 873 is a heavier rod.

This has always been the case with Loomis rods with a Carolina Rig (873) designation....Although the 894 is way more powerful than the 854, 4-power JWRs aren't necessarily consistent...the 873 falls in between...its a lot of experience/trial and error

Thread hopping. Need a do it all rod 7'1" or 7' so it fits in my starboard rod locker. Throw a jig, throw a frog, spinnerbait, ect. Just a higher end do it all, will put a 7 speed Mentainium or Bantom, braid and leader as needed. I have a lot of specialty rods, but want a it do all when I jump in another boat. Loomis fan.

Do it all rod …You need a sensitive rod that’s real parabolic
Easy Choice …. MBR Loomis Rods

GLX 844 MBR would be my #1 choice for sure
Step up to the NRX+ line …. 843 MBR (little more stout so the 844 would be a bit much)
