    M2 gear case performance

I have a 2014 Evinrude 250 HO (new to me) and was wondering if anyone has had any luck regaining the lost performance of the M2 gear case by running a nose cone and low water pickup. I have heard there is a noticeable loss of speed in high performance boats due to the case being larger then say a 2000 model. The motor will be on an Allison XB21. Would I be better off running an older gear case or is there hope for the M2?

    Thanks All..

Got rid of mine and went back to the L1/l2 design
I would recommend a cone for sure and maybe with the surfacing achieve some performance back on the case but if I see pad I lost a large amount of performance on the m2. Get a standard gearcase and come it probably gain some results back also

Thanks for the reply, I have my old gear case from my 2000 Johnson 225 that already has all the performance mods done (nose cone, low water pickup ect.) I will probably just stick with that case then.
