    Bravo vs tempest

I'm running a 1992 Merc 150 carb O/B with a 19P Quick.Silver prop and turning 5200 RPMs and only 40 MPH (GPS). Ranger 380, Great hole shot. I think I need more Pitch.
I'm thinking either Tempest 14 1/2 X 21P or a Bravo prop. With a Bravo should I go a to 19, 20, 21, or 22 P. To get more speed without sacrificing hole shot? Or something else?
Any help from you guys that are "in the know" appreciated. My boat in 19' long, 90" beam, 1350LBS
    Thanks Jeff

If you’re only getting 5200 rpm’s you need less pitch.

It will weigh a lot more with engine, TM, batteries, fuel, tackle and a couple of anglers.

    If I could only turn a 19 p to 5200 I would drop down to a 17 p and try again.

Is the tach accurate? If it is, you can't go up in pitch.

Doesn't sound like the motor is running 100% healthy, Or getting to full throttle.

Back in the day I had a '93 BassCat Caracal 16' with a Merc XR4 that would run in low 60's with a 23 pitch Laser II prop. That was at 5800-6000 rpms. Somethings not right with your engine if you can only get 5200 out of a 19 pitch prop.

Sounds like me when I got my current boat earlier this year. found out I had a cylinder not firing. I agree with those guys you need to look at the engine before fooling with prop swaps.

I’m certainly not a prop expert but one question I was wondering is what is your ptp height. If you’re deep in the water with ptp you will get good hole shot and rpm’s at top end would suffer to some extent.
You might want to try some different ptp heights first and you may have tried that, just saying

380 is a center console boat.
