Ramp N Clamp - Drotto Latch

Anyone have experience with either on Ranger fiberglass rigs, thinking about a purchase.

LOVE the Ramp N Clamp !! My SIL and I can be loaded and out of the water in SECONDS !!! As he backs down, I line up and head in, trailer hits the water, I hit the trailer, give it a little "Goose", CLICK, and we're pulling out. No climbing over the bow to hook up the strap !!

2014 Z521C and trailer with Ramp-n-Clamp model 503 SH, works as advertised. It took me a few tries on ramp to figure out needed water depth of trailer to make it connect correctly. Extended bow eye is required, which I like as it is now easier to connect / release my safety chain.

I have the Drotto and am very happy with it. I fish solo most of the time and it makes launching and recovery super easy. Steps up front also help quite a bit.

I have the Ramp n Clamp on my Ranger 2017 Z21 and love it. I installed it in a few minutes at the ramp while the boat was floating at the dock.

I have a Drotto on a 16 Z581C and love it. My dad has one on his 99 519 DVS and loves it. I previously had mine on a 97 Sport R70 and it was decent, but didn't always work as well. Part of it could be the fact that my winch post was bent a little from the day I bought it. It had a an occasional hiccup if the landing wasn't level (the trailer only had 2 bunks) so the eye wouldn't hit it square and cause a little binding, same with releasing. Haven't had the issues since putting it on the new boat. Very convenient and would highly recommend.

See what looks like a plate either pop riveted or screwed to the hull around the bow eye ? Curious the reason for that , please.

I've done it on my last two boats (this one with a Drotto and the one before with another discontinued product sold by Cabelas back in the day) - not a hard job.

Remove the bow front access panel and remove two nuts on the bow eye, install the new one. I did not find this task to be difficult at all.

Yes, it's a Bow Shield by Gator Guard. The previous owner had beat up the keel and it looked pretty bad. I installed this with the 3-M tape it came with, but it looked weird and didn't stay flat like it should, so I removed it and got another one and riveted it on instead. Came out much better and looked better. There are other brands that do the same thing. Google---Stainless Bow Guards

Do you mean 2007 Z21 or 2017 Z521? I only ask because I have a 2005 Z21, which is pretty much the same as the 2007.

Might want to send Toofy a PM. He might not know to check back into this thread to see your question….

Doesn't the Drotto require the boat to sit further back on the trailer?

I had to make some minor adjustments to my winchstand and trailer bunks to get things balanced and supported properly.
