Thumbs Up Minn Kota Lift Assist

Well guys I decided to bite the bullet and buy the lift assist. I have the 112 Ultrex and with all the attachments it was getting heavy for an older guy. I must say it's worth the money in my case. It really helps in deployment and stowing the motor.

Are you talking the new Minnkota mount? Or does Humminbird actually have something to help ?

Yep, love mine and well worth the $400. Can’t believe how nice it is with 360, live, and targetlock. Highly recommend

Will it be too much lift for just M360 and livescope with no pole?

If you can be a bit patient, I’m making a kit to upgrade your current base for somewhere around $150. I’m prototyping it now.

No it works great with M360 and Mega Live. I think it’s well worth the money because it is great replacement for the current and makes it all work. Nothing weird.

I too have an Ultrex 112 52 inch shaft with all attachments, including Target Lock. I modified my mount by adding a second 860 NM cylinder, using the info I got from another on this forum. Wayne's input was very helpful there. It cost me about $50.00 for parts. When I deploy it, I can release the cable about 2/3 the way down, letting the motor fall on its own weight. Then the trolling motor nicely latches itself smoothly and softly. Been working perfectly for a few months now. A big improvement for me. Love it. I'm sure the new Minnkota mount is likewise wonderful.

Can you order a new Ultrex with this or must it be purchased separately?

They have not incorporated that option into the”build a motor” setup on the site. May be something in the future. Bob

I purchased the 112lb/52" online.... unit arrived. The shipper showed the correct part number. The unit in the box was an 80lb/45" model. Online shop was great with an RMA.

I was answering the question for the new base to accommodate the added weight added with 360,Mega Live and Target lock. It is not a choice online. Just as an accessory you can buy, replace the standard base with and live happily everafter without a Hernia. Bob

Hey bamacat, if you get time, snap a picture of the gas cylinder area of this new mount.

For anyone who purchased the new lift assist.
Can you take a picture of the lift cylinder and part number?
Wondering how much stronger this cylinder is compared to the 3 ones they now offer.
I have a 52",80lb thrust Ultrex without anything else attached. I'm getting old lol. Need this to lift a little easier!

Royt, the new mount & gas spring is over 1500 N which is close to double the biggest standard spring (860 N). Without the extra weight of the 360 and TargetLock you would have to stand on the upper arm to get it to lock in full deployment.
