I don’t. But I also put my thumb on the spool when I set the hook so I’ve never had a need.

I do it irregardless of the main line...saves money at the end of the day not putting a full spool of fluoro or braid on. I put 10 lb trilene big game on first as my backer.

No, doesn't hold enough line to warrant it. I use my for pitching/ skipping with 17-20 lbs flour.
Put a small piece of electrical tape on the spool before the line. I run straight braid and have never slipped with the tape.
I use a backing, not to eliminate slippage but to save a little money on fluorocarbon and to make it a little easier to change out new line without having to retie to the spool. Easier for me too tie new line to the backing than to the spool and then thru all the guides.
I can almost spool the line on a Zillion, so NO (assuming the Zillion & the Tatula has the same spool size). Bigger spools, yes, it’s a waste to spool the same line all the way to the core.
