I saw a couple pontoon's out, as I crossed the river at I-4 last week. Water still nearly as high as it was in early November.

Me and a buddy were planning on hitting the St Johns in February. What do you think conditions will be by then?

I am sure others that know a lot more about the St. John’s than I do will check in. I am on the Harris chain this year but will be back to Astor maybe January to see friends and will post what I see and my fisherman friends say although they mostly fish for crappie. Just a guess but I would think it would be fine by then

Honestly hard to say. I seen 3 boats on Monroe yesterday crossing the Bridge, but have no idea how they got there. Ramps are or were closed.

It is still WAY HIGH around here. Probably take another 2-3 months to get back close to normal is my guess.

Generally speaking, cold, fishless, and plenty of parking at the ramp..

I hear that the ramp in Astor on the St. John’s is now open according to a crappie fisherman on crappie.com he also posted a picture and some information.

Went by Highbanks Rd. ramp today. Water is high and ramp is still closed, but it's receded enough that you can see the 1st dock. (2 still underwater). I've actually launched there with water at a similar height. Not sure when they plan to open it, but it's gone down considerably since my last visit, where it was still up in the road, blocking the loop. Warm fall (southerly winds) not hurting!

Planning on being down around the northern part of the SJR next week. (I make the trip down from Indiana every year)

How's rodman looking? Up? Down? Covered in mats?

Still no one selling shiners out of Orange Springs since Howard passed?

The only mats at Rodman will be water cabbage. There is zero submerged aquatic vegetation.

Highbanks has reopened. They're doing some kind of construction at Monroe (free) ramp. Anyone know what's going on or if there's an estimate reopen date?
