electrical help on bird wiring

fished last week before sun-up and found two issues with my bird. I wonder if they are related but can't see how.

Issue 1- my navigation light up front is not working; same lite put in the anchor spot works fine. the hole was too narrow for me to get my voltage meter probes on but I assume it was lack of power and not corrosion. Certainly I did not see any corrosion

Issue 2- The backlight on my console guages not working. Gauges work fine just not the backlight so I can see them at night


Related, unrelated and any fix ideas appreciated.

Yes related. The gauge lights come on when the nav light switch is turned on. I’d take the switch panel off and start investigating there.

that switch has a diode on the back so it can switch from anchor to nav with out feeding back to the other side
do you get anchor light on Nav and on anchor?

I think I was getting the anchor light no matter what settings I used. was not getting the navigation up front on any setting. I was running down the river when I noticed my guage lights were not working but don't recall if I had the switch set to nav or anchor at that point in time.
