    Evinrude VRO pump

I am looking at buying a 2005 Evinrude 150 2 stroke that has had the VRO pump replaced with a regular fuel pump. Now you have to premix oil in gas.I didn’t know this was possible. Any information in regards to this would be appreciated.

Need the engine model number. There was no 2005 Evinrude carbureted 150. In 2005 the 150 was a direct injection Ficht engine. I think the last year for a carbureted / VRO EV 150hp was 1998. At least by the parts catalogs……

This is a fuel injection engine but owner said took oil injection pump off and put electric fuel pump on it. He called it the VRO pump.

Please post a model number as there is no way to do that on a fuel injected motor. A VRO pump is a vacuum driven pump that mixes the oil and fuel together and delivers it to the engine. This is a VRO pump.

Ok - this is better but still way off on VRO. A Ficht direct injection engine never used a VRO. The Ficht technology used a separate electro mechanical oil injection system injecting only oil into the crank case. In addition if someone removes this oil pump and runs pre-mix gas and oil the engine will not survive. The crankcase, crankshaft, connecting rods and pistons will all seize due to lack of lubrication. A direct injection engine injects fuel directly into the combustion chamber. No oil makes it into the crank case.
    You have some bad information.
