    Tow Hitch Drop

Just purchased a 2022 AT4. Anybody have an idea of what size hitch to get 2” or 4” drop?

Google how to measure for a hitch. That and a tape measure will get you set.

Truck has a factory 2” lift. Whatever hitch you were using with a regular truck, get one with 2” more drop. Or follow troutspinner’s advice.

Measure. It might have a factory 2” lift but that won’t account for different tire size, and not all trucks start the same.

The best thing I got for a my truck was purchasing a hitch which has several different drops as I am constantly changing drops for different boats and landscape trailers.

Measure your trailer coupler when level then see how much of a drop you need to get to that same place. Most times you need to be around 18"

    From Bulletproof hitches website
    Step 1
Measure the opening of the receiver tube (Figure A) to determine what size shank your vehicle requires. It will be 2", 2.5" or 3" (Please note that 3" is applicable to some 2017 & newer Ford Super Duty trucks and some RVs/Semis only)

    Step 2
Park your vehicle on level ground and measure from the ground to the bottom inside of the receiver tube (Figure B), then take that measurement and apply it to the information below. As you can see in the example, this truck would require our 6" drop.

    Receiver height as measured:
Under 13" requires a hitch in the rise position, call us to help you
    13"-15" requires 2" drop/rise hitch
    16"-18" requires 4" drop/rise hitch
    19"-21" requires 6" drop/rise hitch
    22"-24" requires 8" drop/rise hitch
    25"-27" requires 10" drop/rise hitch
    28"-30" requires 12" drop/rise hitch
    31"-33" requires 14" drop/rise hitch
    34"-36" requires 16" drop/rise hitch

I did it the dumb way. I bought every drop Harbor Freight had and after I found the level one, I took the others back for a refund...

Level tow vehicle and trailer. Measure from ground to top of hitch receiver tube (A). Measure from ground to bottom of trailer coupler(B). Subtract (B) from (A) and that's the drop you need. We sell these every day and that's how we do it. Works every time. Good luck.

Dealer allowed me to measure the height of my previous hitch and compare to the new one. Looks like a 2" drop will work. I'll check it out on Sat. Hard to measure correctly since my boat sits on an inclined driveway. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Adjustable drop so you can use it for multiple truck/trailer combinations as needed.
