    Pointer 128

Anybody know what hook size for this bait? Caught stripers over the weekend and they destroyed two of the three hooks. Want to get some replacements as stripers are on the menu again this weekend.

I would think those are 4/0 round bends.
I would look at the Owner trebels

Yep, definitely #4. I think they come with VMCs, I'd be putting Owner ST-36 on them myself. Could go to an ST-56 for those stripers, though it might change the action a bit.

I upsized the hooks on my super Spook and it made the thing dive under. Worried going bigger on the Pointer Will change the action too. After watching my partner catch 10 fish on his Spook to nothing for me, I switched to one with the stock size hooks and started whacking them. We ended up with 25 on Spooks, Pointers, and swimbaits. Going back to try again this weekend.

I'd wager the ST-56 would cause the Pointer to start sinking just due to how heavy wire they are.

A potentially better option is the ST-38 which is a little stronger than the ST-36 but weighs the same. They're made out of the "Zo Wire" (similar to Gamakatsu's "Tournament Grade Wire" / "TGW" that you see with their G-Finesse hooks), so are super sharp and hold a point forever. The thing I don't like about them is that they have an EWG style bend. That's great if you have fish really getting the bait--they stay pegged extremely well--but if you have bites where they're maybe slapping at the bait you miss more fish. Maybe with Stripers that's not a problem at all? I get the impression they don't mess around when they decide to eat something!

The regular ST-36 might do just fine too. I've admittedly not caught stripers, but have landed loads of smallmouth up to and north of 5 lbs, white bass over 4 lbs, walleyes over 8 lbs, pike that are significantly bigger than that, and some really big drum on jerkbaits with size 5 and 6 ST-36s. I'm really confident in saying they'll hold up better than the stock VMCs. I also know that stripers can get a LOT bigger than the fish I'm mentioning having caught with the regular ST-36s.

Another "in between" option could be the G-Finesse MH trebles. They're a little heavier than an ST-36/38, but not as heavy as the ST-56. Round bend, and sticky sharp.
