    Gatorbaks with green LED strips...

I had a new aluminum trailer made for my Ranger and I decided to go with the Clear Gatorbaks and green LED Phlashlight strips, since it seemed like a great combination. The bunks are 2x6 at 9 and 5 feet long.

I prepped the boards by drying the 2x6's for a month, then routed a 1/4" x 1/2" channel roughly an inch from the outside of the board. I then put multiple coats of Zinsser 123 primer, followed by 2 coats of SW enamel high gloss white paint. I installed the LED's and then the Gatorbaks according to the instructions. Just got the pics of the trailer yesterday and I pick it up Saturday....

A few more pics of the new trailer. It is still getting some guides and whatnot, but this is the general rig now...

Nice - did you put a switch on the tongue to turn them on/off or do they stay on with the running lights?

They are tied into the running lights, so no switch. Since I routed the channel close to the outer edge of the bunk, it should light up nicely at night while running, especially since the hull is a very light tan...

Are they on when your trailering? That might be a cool pic if so. Good product, I just don't load much at night for these to make sense for me.

They will be on any time the running lights are on, so if I'm driving or launching at night, or even launching before sunrise, they'll be on. I'm excited to see how well it illuminates the ramp when I launch at the next tournament in a couple weeks. Our water is generally stained, so it should be a glow...

Not to be the party pooper, but does your state allow for green lights on a trailer. Here in VA you can only have red behind the wheels. You can only have amber in front of them. I fish occasionally with a friend that is with state police and he says it when he sees the LED’s. I doubt every trooper here would pull you over here, but they can

I have no idea if I'll get pulled over. If I do, I'll install a switch, but not until then....

Just checked AZ laws and underglow/additional illumination is not illegal while driving. License plate must be white, brakes must be red. It says to avoid blue and definitely blue/red combined, as these are colors used by emergency vehicles. Green is safe in Arizona.....

I like the idea that should be really nice loading or unloading in the dark. It would be very interesting to see how they wired them in, one other question would be the longevity of the lights themselves burning the entire time your running lights are on. Have you considered powering them via the back up lights?

The Phlashlight LED's have a lifetime warranty, so I don't anticipate any issues with them. I believe they just butt spliced them into the running lights, as each bunk has it's own wire. I wanted the lights to be on any time the truck lights are on, so that's why we tagged into the running lights.

Daisy chained the LED lights at the rear of the trailer bunks and added a waterproof plug tied into the license plate light. The lights can be unplugged there if need be. I've only had a Virginia sheriff deputy come over at a gas station early AM to ask how the lights worked in the bunks. He though it was cool and I gave him the information to obtain them for his PWC trailer. Other than other drivers jockeying to get along side the boat at the stoplight to see the light show, no issues for years since I installed them.

That front roller might be hard to hit with no reference. I attached a 1" x 1" x 36" inch piece of aluminum stock to the front of the winch stand with "radiator" clamps for a target. I capped it with a rubberized coat and it comes in very handy for exiting the boat. Since I don't see a spare I suppose yours will mount forward of the winch stand. Mine is, and it's what I step on when I exit, then to the trailer frame, then to the truck back bumper.

Looks great!! I really like the green.

I just installed mine the last couple of weekends. I couldn't get away with that color here in Texas, The police here frown on any color other than Red or yellow showing. In my case. it was too late. I found blisters on the hull along the length of my two center bunks. Going to be an expensive repair. Lesson learned.
