    general merc. question

    gotta 92 johnson 175 2 stroke that loves to drink to much...lol out of all the mercs out there which ones sip gas
    may have to switch over.

    If you're looking for new it's 4-stroke only. You shouldn't have any problem finding a good used Optimax.

    My 2011 2-stroke 175 Pro XS has been great. It uses considerably less fuel than the 150 EFI it replaced, with much better overall performance.

    My 14yr old 150 Optimax fuel economy on 10.27.22, if I back down to around 3800rpm fuel economy is 5.7 - 5.8mpg...

    My 18 yr old 175 Optimax at 715 hrs TT, running 3800-4000 rpm is around 4.5 -5 depending on sea & load conditions.
