    92 175....small problem....i hope

    can off the water Saturday and i get this long alarm in which the problem plate reads overheating and wouldn't go
    over 2 to 3k bogged down luckily i was pretty much near the launch. .....could be a few things. haven't
    dove into it yet. your thoughts

    Start with the basics, visual inspection of the boat and motor, water pump factory kit, thermostats, water inlet screens, temp switches, wiring, etc.

    checked stats opening at 185 ,plugs good . so i back flushed her checked a few things and went to the lake
    and she ran fine had up to 50 here and there.....seemed to work.

    Stats should be opening ~ 145* not 185*.

    Another thing to look into is fuel restriction. My 1995 175 Faststrike has a solid alarm when the gas is restricted. A few times I turned the gas off instead of switching to the other tank and it ram just like how you described. Wouldn’t get above 2-3k Rpm’s, bogs down, constant alarm, temp gauge was fine, then I checked the primmer bulb and it was sucked dry.
