    Ranger pedestal seat bushing replacement

Just got a replacement kit but not quite sure how to get the old bushing out. Has anybody done this before with suggestions?

I’ve done it a few times. The trick is to chisel down through the plastic bushing on both sides, then you can pick the two pieces out from the top. You can use a straight-blade screwdriver or a small chisel. I used a plastic hammer, because it is less dangerous to my fingers and a slow, steady progression until you get all the way through is the best [imo] way to proceed.

can you take a hack saw blade and using vise grips to hold it, split the bushing into two or 3 pieces then remove?

Worked like a charm. It was a bit unnerving to chisel and hammer away on my baby but turned out beautifully. Thx

Just a piece of plastic, and the good news is that you really can’t hurt the metal lining around the bushing unless you use an air hammer.

Biggest issue with these bushing is that the inside diameter of this type plastic “grows”.
This is not a new phenomenon by any means.
the plastic is unstable with temperature changes and actually grows in diameter.
