I think it really depends on which motor you have and how the boat is loaded. I have 25 hp 2 stroke suzuki which is actually a 30 . My dad and I weigh 150 each . I can run 22-24 with a 12 pitch aluminum .

Smaller boat or more hp, a 25 is way undersized for that boat.

i have a new yamaha 4 stroke 25 hp.i want to use on hp restricted lakes, yes i know its a small hp motor ,i just want to run the best i can. i ordered a 4" jack plate , that should help. i watched a video from bob's jack plate , he said 26 mph with a ss prop ,but didn't say pitch. i doubht i'll ever get that ,but if i could get 22 ,that would be great. i run 19 by myself now. i am just looking for input. i am also waiting on a tach that the dealer said comes with boat , that will help in this process, thanks

I have a smaller 16 ft aluminium I use on HP restricted lakes, better to do that then to under power a nice bass boat.

Personal preference. I love fishing out of my RT178 with a 20hp on it. Takes a while to get there, but worth it fishing once you are there. Such a solid platform, even with another person or two in the boat. Of course I have a Z519 w/225 for bigger lakes.

yes, so far it is a great boat, in pa. alot of great lakes are restricted hp. i am just trying to be more versatile, i also have a z520l.the speed issue is also a safety factor, trying to fish with just a trolling motor is not the answer.safety is always first.

dropped height to 1" above transom , 2 adults ,5gal gas 18.4 mph. i ran solo and it ran 19.7, i am impressed with the size of boat it is . i was advised to go to lithium's,that may be in future.i still may look into ss prop after i get a tach
