    Puma STS Jackplate Setback

I am in process of ordering a new Puma STS. I was asked by dealer if I wanted a 6” or 8” hydraulic jackplate setback.

Curious, what is your recommendation and why? Pros / Cons to either?

I believe the 8” is preferred, and the 6” is a good option for those that need to reduce the length for storage purposes.

I would go with an 8” personally. I believe you go with a 6” if you run a Verado style engine. I know Rick likes the motors in closer on the transom to get into cleaner water.

That is correct, the 4” and 6” are for the Verado engine.

And yes, Rick says the water is cleaner closer to the boat and prefers the 4” plate himself on most boats.
