    150-175 SHO 231hp Nizpro flash

Nizpro has a tune out for the inline 4 cylinder 2.8 SHO motors. Has anyone tried it, and what kind of improvements did you get? We need details.

I'm thinking about putting it on my 150 sho. It may be a while though, with the economy and now most of my lakes are freezing over, I may not be able to do anyting till spring.

damn dude, if you are running a 150 sho and flash it to 231, that is a 54% increase in hp. You are going to get a ton of improvement!!! With that percentage of increase a 250 SHO would be flashed to 385!!!

The 4.2 V6 sho's are flashed to 332hp. Whether it be 200 225 or 250. I looked at the 2.8 sho's. looks like the only difference in the 115, 150, 175 motors was the ECU and the gear ratio of the lower unit. Probably the same with the 4.2L. Wondering if Nizpro is just taking the higher ECU's and bumping up the limiter. From what I understand Yamaha's have some RPM's left before true redline.

I wonder if those numbers are at the powerhead? If so you will lose about 20% at the prop and then the numbers make sense.

I'm pretty sure they're all at the prop. I know Hydrotec's numbers are at the prop, so it would only make sense that Nizpro's are as well.

Well. I’ll let y’all know. I picked up my 2023 SHO 150 this morning. Did the initial one hour at 2000 rpm part of the break in. Just ordered the 231 kit a few minutes ago. Maybe in a few weeks I’ll have it finished. Starting with a 23 pitch prop and will maybe change from there. I hammered it a few times after the one hour and was able to get the boat to 62mph gps with the 23 pitch VMax T2. The boat is a 2003 Skeeter TZX190 with two poles, four batteries and an Ultrex. Wish me luck. I’m looking for 70mph.

Well. The kit has arrived, I have 4-1/2 more hours of break in before I install it. I have bought a Tempest Plus prop for it. A 25 pitch. I may have to drill the plugs out on the prop. The SHO is a little slow out of the hole with a 23 Tempest Plus. I imagine it will not be a whole lot different at the lower rpm’s…even with the flash. I hope it can twist the 25.

maybe in a couple more weekends I’ll have some solid numbers. The prop shop I bought the Tempests from used to be a Nizpro dealer and he said the kits are very legit. He said if Nizpro says it will make 231hp @ 6500rpm, it will. Hearing that, the dyno results show that most of the power increases seem to come at 3000+ rpm. That isn’t gonna help the hole shot with a big enough prop to take advantage of the extra 80 hp up top. Hopefully the PVS plugs at 3/8-1/2” will slip the prop to 3500 rpm easy enough and that should help it outta the hole.

Right now. The base line is this.

Old motor. F150 with a Reliance 21 Yamaha prop. Skeeter TZX190. Max top speed was 56.1 at 6100rpm
New 2023 SHO 150 with reliance 21. 57.2 mph@ 6200 rpm. Bouncing the rev limit with ease.
    New 2023 SHO 150 with Temoest Plus 23. 63.4 mph @ 6100 rpm.
these are all GPS speeds from a Lowrance Carbon. New motor has both CommandLink gauges installed and the new speedometer is using the Lowrance Carbon NMEA0183 gps output for its sending unit. So it displays exactly the same as the Lowrance.

Curious of the results once flashed. Also once flashed can you go back to stock ECU if you want?
