Strange squeeling sound after long runs. 2022 225 SHO

    2022 225 sho. 56 hours.

I get this noise after long hot runs... I've seen some people say it's a bushing that needs greased, a belt, others say bent shaft.. what do you folks say?

Normally bushing in lower unit. But tough to say without being there. CJ

It's nothing. But if you want to stop it you can drop the lower unit and put a little grease on top of the gear shaft and on the splines. Put it back together and it will go away but will probably come back after a while.

Pull the lower and put grease near top of the drive shaft that goes into the powerhead. It is known for this sound to happen when the driveshaft isn't lubed. Yamaha actually makes a special grease for this.

It might also be a bearing in the belt tensioner going bad.
