    Mercury 250 pro xs

I think I seen this is a 2 stroke I currently have a 4 stroke and love it. What are the main differences? Should I stick with a 4 stroke

After running 4 strokes for several years I have zero desire to go back to a 2 stroke.

Yep, there aren't too many positive reasons to go with a 2 stroke when you have an option.

Sorry, what is the question? Mercury put ProXS on both 2 strokes and 4 strokes. The 250 ProXS Fourstroke started coming out on boats for the 2019 model year I think. At least that seems to be when Triton switched over.

If your are asking about the functional differences between a 2 stroke and 4 stroke engine, it's probably more productive to just Google that and read up a bit.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who can't figure out exactly what the question is...????

If you have a 4 stroke why go backwards to a 2 stroke? If you have a good 2 stroke keep it

I just paid 70 dollars for a gallon of 2 stroke optimax oil. Stay with the 4 stroke...

Why there are much better and cheaper options. I run 2 pro xs 250's with 100's of hrs on each and would never ever run nasty DFI oil in either one.

I run the Mercury recommended Oil as I am under warranty and want no questions if I have a problem. Also don't want to risk mixing of oil brands, as I have seen some bad results from that with friends...

I was told by a boat dealer and mechanic that I'd want to throw rocks at an Optimax after running one of the new 4-strokes and he was right. At the risk of ruffling feathers it's my opinion that the people who beat their chests saying 2-stroke is superior have probably never spent any real time with a 4-stroke...OR that couple less mph 4-strokes have been said to have (debatable with the new ones) is needed for them to make up for something lacking "down there". I've spent a ton of time with a couple different EFI 2-strokes, several carb 2-strokes, and an Optipop. Three of those motors were owned by me. Love the smooth and quiet operation of a 4-stroke.

I went from an Evinrude fast strike to an OX66 Yamaha to an HPDI Yamaha to a ProXS Merc 2- stroke to my current ProXS 4-stroke. I can even imagine going back to a two-stroke. Just not having to buy oil is enough to keep me going back to a 2-stroke. Still have my little 17.5 tin rig with a 40hp merc 2 stroke but that motor is great.

Seems like the smaller 2-stroke outboards run forever and don't ask for much in return.

As long as they get the oil they need, they normally run forever.

I was a diehard 2 stroke fan, right up until I operated a 250 4 stroke for myself. Man was I misled.
