Applicable lower units for my 2.5L OT737852

The lower unit on this old OptiMaxx has a crack in it…A guy down the road has a lower unit on a 98 OptiMaxx… Unfortunately I can’t get the serial number off of it… The plate is completely faded. What’s your best guess on these two gearcases matching up? Of course I’ll do a pressure test on it before I buy it. He only wants $250 for it. Does my OT737852 have a 1.87?

Yours should be a 1.87 ratio, HOWEVER, I can't even tell if your guy down the road has a 2.5L (let alone the correct gearcase or shaft length).

Rails.... Diaphragms.... Gearcase.... sounds like this is becoming a heck of a project!

Or simply go to www.mercurypartsonline.net, setup a login, and use your engine serial number.
