    Question 193 champion

I have a 193 champion with a 2012 Mercury pro xs I was told a should be running a 25p tempest well the hole shot is great but I’m only turning 5200 rpm and getting poor lift my rpm range is 5500-6000 I know my tack is good because I’m also running the vessel view and tack is spot on any recommendations I know I at least need to get in my rpm range. Motor is a 200 by the way with 8in jack plate. Any one have ideas? Thanks

I have a 193 but with a Yamaha. Either your prop is buried too deep or you are not reaching full throttle somehow. That prop should work. There are other props that work great also but you should be seeing 5800 plus rpm.

Your prop might need some work. Lower jackplate for more bow lift, raise jackplate for more rpm. I’d also confirm your firing on all 6 cylinders. The opti’s are known for coil failures.

Definitely hitting on all six or the vessel view would throw a code. Motor runs great. Thanks.

I just bought a 2001 193 with a ox66 200 on it. What speeds are you getting out of yours? I think I need to adjust the jack plate because my tack is only reading 5200-5300 at wot. It seems to be getting plenty of bow lift and the prop seems to be biting good. I think I need to raise the jack plate a bit.

you probably should take a look at your 02 sensor and clean it. If it has lots of carbon build up it will rob you 500 rpms. Also clean the housing behind the 02. It’s not a hard job and lots of info on how to do it on the Yamaha page or YouTube

I have 2. 2003 with 2008 opti and a 2004 with a 2004 Yami. both run about 65 loaded with 2 people and a ton of tackle. Yami runs about 5500 or so and the opti about 5700. both have 3 sec hole shots. on the yamaha I replaced the o2 sensor. I kept losing 500 or so rims.
