    Starting motor turns Humminbird off

2005 Stratos 201. Just put in the biggest Interstate starting battery I could buy. Volt meter says starting battery at 12.7-12.8, but when I turn big motor on my console graph and sometimes bow graph turns themselves off. I do not have FFS or anything like that and no go pros. Graph will sometimes go off if I hit the bilge or aerator. I have cleaned all connections and replaced all ring terminals at the cranking battery. Thoughts??

If you have eliminated the battery and it’s doing the same thing it’s either a bad connection the has too much voltage drop when the battery sees load or wiring issues. Is this new or did it work before?

Only time I have seen that was at end of day when battery really depleted. Did you get a flooded or AGM?

When I had a flooded it would do it at the end of every day but AGM solved that

Likely inadequate wiring to the unit. Older boats just weren’t wired to handle the electronics people put in bass boats today. Some fused heavier gauge wires directly from the battery to the the unit power cable or to a fuse block that feeds the unit will likely fix it.

I’d suggest dedicated wire 10 gauge in size to each graph and accessory on your boat. I just had to rewire a 2016 triton with 14 or 16 gauge wire for the graphs on hds12s from the factory. Terrible setup. Went to 10 gauge per graph and his issues are gone.

I have a battery disconnect on my post, sometimes it loosens during the day from running, when that happens, my graphs go out when trying to start the big motor.
