We haven't seen a good return this year, most polite way to put it.
Our "returns" have been in real estate holdings and conservation.
COVID cut our spending by default. And we just stayed the course.
Zero debt, but we still desire a return. At this point, we created it.
Hopefully, the markets will turn next year, but we think it's longer.

Jim, I agree with it’s going to take longer. With 31 trillion in debt and growing, the US not becoming self sustaining in oil, reducing oil capacity, defense budget decreases, along with money pouring out of this country to others, I just don’t see too many positives driving our markets. I’m staying in protection mode for the foreseeable future.

    Is this incorrect?
    https://www.usgovernmentspending.com...ending_history

Fiscal Year Military Spending Veterans Foreign Aid Total Defense
    2020 $724.6 billion $219.8 billion $67.7 billion $1,012.1 billion
    2021 $753.9 billion $235.4 billion $46.9 billion $1,036.2 billion
    2022 $779.7 billion $275.0 billion $61.6 billion $1,116.2 billion
    2023 $808.6 billion $296.5 billion $63.4 billion $1,168.4 billion

And curious as to what you see that shows money pouring out our country to others. What data point do you use?

Foreign Aid is a projection for 2022 and 2023. Since Ukraine has already received over $60b dollars worth of aid from the US, I'm sure it' going to be at least double that. Also, that is not a government website and simple math will tell you the 2022 number is way way off...

How much of those weapons are for the defense of the United States? The US is not always giving currency to other countries, but many times it’s actually weapons meant for the defense of this country.
