Lightweight high torque 200 hp outboards?

Is there a certain 200 hp outboard that stands out as far as light weight and high torque? Even though torque numbers aren't published (not sure why), I'm sure the Mercury 200 pro xs has the most torque with its high displacement. But it's over 500 lbs. Is there a lighter option?

It’s gotta be the Pro XS 4 stroke or the Yamaha SHO. But that is also over #500. But you can flash that motor to get more out of it. Not sure you can do that with the Mercury

I don’t know much about outboards, but as a car geek I’d have to think the supercharged Mercury Verado would have to be one of the highest torque engines out there. Would be kinda odd if it wasn’t. Probably not the lightest tho. I’m sure a quick google search would answer that one

Evinrude Vindicator 200, Johnson Venom 200, Mercury 200 EFI, or Yamaha OX66 200.

Mercury V6 200 4 stroke is 475 lbs. Good strong motor if you need to save a few pounds. The old days of a 375 lb 200 are long gone unfortunately.

Curious why a world beater like the G2 is no longer made? Apparently not enough of the 200's out in front of the 250's.

    Tongue in cheek.

There’s probably 10 times as many Mercury V8 4 strokes on the water than G2s

I would seriously bet there’s more failures per machine on the G2

Hopefully the guys with the 250's will tow the G2 guys back to the launch rather than leave them stranded.

He is probably comparing a boat with an 18-19 foot hull with a 200 to a 21 foot Ranger with a 250, no wonder he was faster.

Let's all start another outboard company and make a DI 2 stroke. Still love my Opti!

The old mercury 2.5 liter 200 efi only weighed 385lbs. They had good torque if you are looking for something lighter but older.

That's my future problem. My 98 zx202c still has the original 2.6 liter 200 hp vmax on it. A 417
lb motor. Is my transom gonna support 1 of those 500lb 4 strokes ?
