Back in the day, we used to rough up the pads with a little 2000 grit wet/dry sandpaper.

Hmmm, weird. Might be good, might reduce friction….

I tried on Friday but the weather got bad so couldn’t put the boat in. Had a tournament today so going to try tomorrow for sure! I will report back in with you after I run it.

Rocketman - I tried the performer again today. It is just not good on my boat at all. Digs and slips really bad trying to get out of the hole, couldn’t even get it to break over by myself. So the Performer BC is a no go on my boat. Also tested a 30 Promax and loved it. The guy I borrowed if from fabricated a brass blowout ring that he heated and attached to the prop somehow . Without the blowout ring I think this prop would have blown out really bad on break over. I liked this prop a lot, good holeshot and hit 87 pretty quick. Couldn’t get it any faster as it was super windy here today….not much left anyway almost on limiter at 87.

Great report jaxbass! Oddly enough i was running a 29 bravoxs for the first 2 yrs I had my 300r as it was the prop I ran on my 300xs & was pretty happy with it overall. About a yr ago I tried a 27 promax & loved it. Been running it for about a yr with merc plastic blowout ring.

Thank for your info as well. I think I am going to get a promax and make my Bravo my spare prop. Really like how quick the promax accelerates.

Rocketman, correction on the promax. The guy I borrowed it from said it is a 31.5 not a 30. The second identifying number imprinted on the inside of the hub is scratched and I can’t read it to confirm. But man that seems like a lot of pitch to get out of the hole as good as it did. This guy knows his stuff so I want to believe that he knows what prop he has but I hate to order one not knowing 100%. Grrrrrr

Look real good with a light. They only cast Promaxes in even pitches. For the odd & half pitches they cross out the even number & punch the odd or half pitch with a punch set @ Merc Racing. Some cupping is removed with a grinder to produce the affect of the odd & half pitches.

Do you have a hydraulic plate? I'm really curious now. My Performer does not blow out at all, Just spools up and pulls.

Yes hydraulic plate. Did you ever get the stock one out of the box and try it? This one is stock and definitely doesn’t work on my boat. The guy I borrowed it from has an XRS and he could get out of the hole either.
