    Sometimes, you get lucky

Over two decades of trading, I know better than to time the market or a stock.

I was on vacation 7/26, sitting in a Cabana reading about stocks. GOOGL got my attention early that morning so I commenced hours of research. After the DD, I decided if it breaks 105 on the down side I am buying. It did, my order was executed a 104.84.

I also had determined this would be one of my rare long holds in my personal account, a multi year investment. But, the swing trader in me is itching to sell, it is dang hard to look at a 15% gain an not pull the trigger.........

    Can you share your DD?

Could pull off the main position now and let free runners run. 124-125 area looks to be strong resistance

I am just following it up with a stop loss, but I am giving it plenty of room to fluctuate.

I had commenced some reading before I left, which included the last 6 quarters of reviewing balance sheets. I read the most recent comments of the CFO during the earnings call and liked what I heard...Then, my favorite thing to do is chart. So, I charted the stock on a daily 5 minute candle for all days starting January 1st. I also added RSI, 10, 20, 50,100 and 200 EMA lines to the charts. That is when I noticed a tight band starting on 5/25, which was a YTD bottom at that time. It dipped again on 6/13, 6/17,6/30 and 7/18. But all these dips and rips were in a tight window. I also noticed on the candle chart that each dip was met with huge volume, which eliminated retail investors and indicated the big boys and their algos were buying. On 7/22 the stock started selling off, and that continued on 7/25. I was watching live on 7/26 , which included a 1 minute candle chart with price and volume, and level 2 quotes. When it broke 105 the volume started to climb, the ask price on level 2 hit a plateau then started climbing, so I pulled the trigger.

Yes I am and removed the stop loss. I really wanted to sell, but told myself for once in my life go long. I purchsed more yesterday at 104.27. I firmly believe in the company, and once all this negative sentiment evaporates, however long that takes, the stock will take off.

I have been writing covered calls on mine when it goes up to sort of turn it into a dividend paying stock.

Good risk/reward at the bottom of the range now.

One thing I have learned about myself is I do not like to hold long in my personal accounts. I can leave that to my retirement peeps.
Anyhow, after a little drubbing, the last month has been setting higher lows and trend line is still good...finally back on the good side of the trade.
