I have one floating around the house. Great rod. Believe it or not bought at Kmart.
I have one. It was my favorite rod...caught a ton of fish. Sadly, my fishing days are over. I'd sell it, but I just don't want the hassle of packing it for shipping. Too bad you don't live closer. I've heard that Academy was selling a rod that was almost a duplicate. Maybe someone here knows more about that.
Funny thing that I saw this post. I was wearing my Quabbin anglers cap the other day and a friend ask me who's autograph was on it and I told him Zell Roland. I met Zell at a seminar at Irwin Marine in Hudson NH years ago. He was great to listen to. I also had the All Star topwater special, but long ago.

As I'm sure you are all aware the original All Star rods were manufactured in Houston Tx., unfortunately the ones that are sold at Academy Sports are Mfg'ed in, you guessed it,CHINA. However I must admit they're not that bad of rod's considering the price.
The WRM1 is a great spinnerbait rod!
Tackle Warehouse carries an Impulse Zell Rowland Signature Series topwater rod, says it manufactured to his spec's.
Those old All Stars and the old Castaways were really good rods.

i have many of the older All Star including the TWS, SBR, BCM and WRM - great rods never had one break on me. Would never part with any of them though
