I've got a 2011 gmc 2500 and a 2013 Laredo 289sre. The gmc has the most cab to axle length of the big 3. The first few years I pulled with a slider, but about 3 years ago switched to a b&w non slider. You can adjust the position front to back when assembling the hitch. Mine is in the middle position, not all the way back. I never come close to hitting the cab. I turn around in the cul-de-sac just fine. If I were to move it back to the furthest back position, I'm afraid it would hit the tailgate or side of the truck. Hope it helps, I always said you have to have a slider with a short bed, but it's not true with a gmc/Chevrolet.

You can use a fixed hitch with a sidewinder trailer pin by Reese. I have a small 5th wheel with one on my 5.5' bed pickup. I can turn it 90 degrees. An option but not cheap unless you can find one on C.L. or Marketplace.
