    Suzuki 250 SS Availability

Does anyone know where a Suzuki 250SS can be found, and any idea on what the going prices is at the moment? I'm looking to repower my Ranger 521 due to a motor failure this weekend. I appreciate any help.

I'm not sure where you can find one TBH. You can maybe call Doss Marine in SC. From what I heard from chatting w/SSN671, there might not be any in the system and the new 250SS will not go into production until June and be available later on this fall.

I found one, should be in this week. Next question...this is going on a 2004 Ranger 521, which prop would be the best? From what I've read, most of the pro's seem to prefer the Scorpion.

I would personally look at getting a 27P Croxton Razor 4XL which is a 15 1/8 diameter prop and has a better hole shot in the summer compared to the Scorpion. I’ve used the 27P Solas Scorpion on my Lynx and haven’t had any issues with it either.

Congrats! Where did you find it and do they have more?! My understanding is 26 or 27 Scorpion is the prop of choice depending on altitude and temp. If you purchase one of Marks props, Razor 3 or 4, he will swap props till you get it dialed in. I would find a scorpion as they are pretty cheap to find and see how it runs and tweak if necessary.

You are correct, it's not the newest version. I happen to find a dealer in Oklahoma that had one on order and scheduled to be delivered within the next few weeks. Blind luck.

Seems to still be a good piece I would do it if I had too.

What dealer? I bought mine in 2018 at Big Mac Marine. This was when he had a shop near Lake Eufaula but that shop isn't there any longer. Not sure if he still has his shop up near Tulsa (he had two locations at the time).

The new ones (df250ATSS) are in stock at the warehouse ready to ship. I talked to a couple dealers this winter and they all said it would be delivered in about 12 days.

Roughly how much is a new motor? Back in 2017/17 when I got my new 250SS, the price was roughly $18k for the motor alone while the cost of a Yamaha SHO was $22k before installation. I'm guessing a new Suzuki is probably around $23k while a new SHO is probably around $25k or more.

What I'd be curious about if there is anything new about the lower unit and if it would bolt onto the older 250SS.

Not sure about new lower bolting on to the old motor; that is an interesting tech question. Price wise about right with your guess 23-26k good price alot of dealers running around 30k (shop around).

From my research definitely seem to be able to find a better deal on the east coast for these motors then out west where I live.

No kidding? I was told by a dealer he doesn't know when they would be available. That was about 3 weeks ago though. I'm ready to order one today. Anyone with leads pm me please. Thanks
