How do you clean a SD card slot?

I have a HDS Live 12 with a "sticky" card reader. Is there a way to clean these slots? I thought about using a vacuum or maybe compressed air but I'm open to suggestions. When I push the card in it almost feels "gummy" and when it clicks, it does not spring back and does not want to read the card unless you get it just right. If you push it in too much you can only get a grip on it with a pair of pliers to remove it.

Thanks, have not thought about that. It would also have some “compressed air” properties to it as well. I’m guessing as long as the unit is off and not turned on for several hours afterwards giving it time to completely dry it should not damage anything

    following also.
i dont have a Live but have a Carbon.
really find these small sd cards a pain.
my Carbon wont go thru startup with it in place.
i typically have to take it out, turn off electrical to the unit, then turn back on ,restart with sd card out, then it will cycle thru stages to my start page, usually Chart.then i stick it all the way in, then usually see Navionics map.

have tried soft and hard reset also, but problem recurs.

I also have noticed over time that i dont feel the "click" when totally engaged.
compressed air seems pretty safe, dont know about other chemicals..

any guidance from Lowrance support/gurus on this problem?
Lowrance next generation needs to address this with some other way of importing/exporting info
    thanks

Today I tried a shop vac just in case something got in there somehow...better to come out the same way it went in....but it did not change anything. It may be a bad spring in there.

Have you done the latest update? They released one a couple of weeks ago that fixes the startup freeze issue with Carbons. Mine did the same thing and the update corrected it.

I just read this site every now and then. People on here post about them pretty much as soon as they are released. Other than that I keep all the old updates in a file on my computer. Whenever I find myself on lowrance’s site I just double check what’s on the site compared to what I have saved.

Did the CRC electronic cleaner solve or at least help the issue?

It should be fine. It's what I use to clean my Hummingbird slots out with. It's designed to evaporate quickly.
Just don't use anything like MAF sensor cleaner, as it's a harsher product.

Ok, thanks...good to hear from someone that has done it to a unit already. I have not tried it yet but may now.
