    Facebook

As much as I dislike Facebook, I think this metaverse thing is the future of the internet. Will Facebook lead the way? will FB be the winner in the metaverse or will MSFT or GOOGL be the big winners of the metaverse? Maybe someone else?

I remember when virtual reality was first talked about and how big it would be. Every time a new version of VR came out, it was a dud because the computing power wasn't there yet. I'm not sure the computing power for a virtual world is here yet but it's close. VR and a virtual world could be something many are living in this decade.

The recent weakness in FB because of whistleblowers might be an opportunity. I don't know, but as much as I dislike social media, I'm thinking it might be worth a shot at some FB. Especially if they can fix the problems that have recently come to light.

I sure hope its not Zuckerberg controlling it and making the decisions. I also hope I never get to the point in my life where an altered state of reality is more appealing then the real world. Its like an episode of Black Mirror.

I remember in the mid 1990's when the massive multiplayer online game like Everquest first came out. It was crazy seeing other people walking around from around the world and interacting with them. It wasn't too long before the Chinese miners got involved and they would virtually mine materials and get items and sell the online for real money. I thought it was crazy that people we spending real money on virtual goods. This was the beginning days of monetizing virtual goods. It stuck and now many people are willing to pay large sums of money for NFTs, online real estate etc. Apple probably makes a ton of its money for in game purchases as well. I saw that many of the game makers actually earn alot of their money from the in game purchases in addition to the games. So a virtual world, with virtual real estate, avatars and everything else is probably just a matter of time since the foundation for it has been laid over the past 20 years.

I watched the Meta presentation. It was what I had expected and hoped for. It's still in it's early development and will need technological breakthroughs to reach it's full potential of what I envision it to become.
A few things that I thought stood out,

Virtual classroom, workplace, meetings, healthcare. This will be beyond zoom. You can have cartoony avatars or identical representation.
Virtual stores. A seller will be able to create a virtual store make it however they want and interact with customers in their store.
    Simulated training
Exercise/sporting activities. Think of Punchout from Nintendo, only you're in the game. They mention a basketball game with other people, not sure how that would work

They didn't talk about it, but I'm sure the porn industry is about to change.

The metaverse is the use case for NFTs and cryptos. If Meta makes a coin, I'm buying

THis is all many years away. Could this be world changing? IMO, yes. The real question is when, 5 10 20 years, no way to know. The risk reward is really good. Meta is already a profitable company, not too much risk. But plenty of potential reward for a long time holder.

Made a bunch off of the name change announcement as I was in the day before. Used the profits and bought META etf 5/2022 leaps, already up on those leaps. So yeah, I think it will be huge until proven otherwise. A company as big and influential as FB leading the charge is a good sign.

Apparently, there’s a basketball video game that can be play virtually. Each player can put in the time to increase their virtual ability or pay to be a better player. This is equally disturbing and lucrative. Have you ever seen the movie Demolition Man? Came out in mid/late 90’s. There was a scene where Sandra Bullock asked Stallone if he want to have sex and he excitedly agreed. She then brought out a pair of VR goggles. A disappointed Stallone said what? No kissing or anything? She then said ewww, who does that anymore?
A movie made over 20 yrs ago predicted the future.

oh I do remember that movie. It's crazy how we could be so close in real life to some sci fi movies we watched years ago.

I’m in mmat heavy. They are designing a lot of the technology/materials that are going to be used in the metaverse, not to mention electric cars and medical equipment.

At some point I will nail the bottom on this stock. It's nailed me at 300, 290, 250, 230,220,215,214 Gonna nail it all the way down to 210, 200. Trading at a 15.5 PE. I have a hard time believing its not higher than it is today in a year.

I never let emotion get in the way of an investment decision but who the hell has time for a second life. I do not have time for this one.

The way the market has been, I’m not ready to call a bottom on anything. I thought NVDA had a great earnings report but it still fell.

Sold a put on it last week at the $175.00 strike expiring March 18. I doubt it drops that much that quick but if so I will take it and write calls on it.

If Russia does a full invasion, you may see $175 price.

Our daughter is looking for a house. I told her last night, I have no idea where the economy is going.

She has saved alot of money and is extremely smart, so I know she will not overpay/overbuy. I just don’t know if a dot-com or 2008 type reset is about to happen or not.

Yep. It seems you never know if you are in a correction or a bear market until it is over. I'm just nibbling bit by bit on things like TROW as they fall. Dividend yields are starting to look good on some of the more quality companies.

Why did yall not tell me to go all cash at 36,000?

I could retire several years sooner, if you would just tell me when we are at the peak and have hit the bottom.

I did say the market was overvalued a few weeks ago. I didn't sell much either. I trimmed a few things but that is it. There really is nowhere else to go.

I thought we were overvalued at 25,000 back in 2019.

I would love to lock-in 10% returns for the next 7 years and I would feel set to retire.

I have not tried to time the market, and like you said - there is nowhere else to go.

So what's everyone's feelings on this one now? Buy, hold, or wait and buy?
