    HDS8 Gen1 and Cmap/social mapping

    Hi everyone,
    I have a HDS8 Gen 1 and was hoping to just use this unit as a chart screen. Is the Gen 1 compatible with the cmap and social mapping downloads that you can put on an SD card etc from the lowrance website? Was hoping for at least the contouring and even the shades contouring, but not sure if the Gen 1 supports it. Thanks for your help

    HDS Gen 1 can not use mapping from C-Map Genesis. HDS Gen 2 was the first compatible generation. You can log sonar with HDS Gen 1, and those can be used to create maps with C-Map Genesis, but you can not use that mapping on HDS Gen 1.
