    Gas in Pontoon

    **New toon owner here**

Just curious what most of you do that leave your pontoon in the slip for long periods of time concerning gas in the tank. I'm use to having a bass boat and not leaving gas in the tank for long, since I had it out all the time. I understand that boating season is pretty much here and we'll have it out often running gas through, but what about the fall/winter months? Who leaves gas in it? Keep it full for condensation purposes? Run it out, or go with non-ethanol and not worry about it????

    FYI: I'm running a 2019 90hp Suzuki

    Thanks.

My 2020 Tritoon with suzuki 140 sat for the past 5 months covered up. I put stabil gas stabilizer in the tank when I parked her and had no issues when I started her up last week. It was 1/2 full in the tank

Thanks Coach185. Did you run non-ethanol or regular?

On my pontoon, I fill it up with non ethanol and add Marine Stabil.

Non ethanol always! Never use ethanol fuel in anything that sits for long periods. It phase separates after as little as a few weeks to several months. Everything I own that sits gets non ethanol and even after sitting 6 months or more they always start right up.

I always carried a can with us on the last trip of the year in case we ran out cause I would try and run all I could out of the tank for winter. In the spring i filled it up.

Recently purchased a pontoon and it came with a full tank of gas from the dealer. They said standard regular ethanol gas which is 87 octane. Mercury recommends at least 90 octane. Trying to run it out so I can put Rec fuel (non-ethanol, 90 octane) fuel in it.

Always put Rec fuel in my recently sold boat and it was a selling plus point for the gentleman buying it. My boss used ethanol type gas in his boat and had to have extensive work done to the motor because it eventually didn't run right. The ethanol deteriorated the gas lines, motor parts etc.
    Always use non ethanol fuel.
