Just heard they moved it back to May 15, 2021. I wish they would keep it that way so I don't have to file an extension every year.

I just went to the IRS.gov web site and don't see that listed anywhere.

The deadline is actually May 17, 2021 not May 15, 2021. I saw it on breaking new watching CNBC.
Just saw it online as well.

They probably pushed it back because they don't have any money left for lucky ones getting money back...LOL
Nothing official yet. However, it may not matter depending upon what the states do. In Va, you will have to at least done the federal return to be able to file the state return as you have to have the federal information. So if your state does not change its deadline, you may have to go through the motions to at least calculate the federal return
Won’t have to write the check as soon
As an accountant, ugh!
Amen…been doing this for close to 20 years and this is the worst year ever. Every other day something changes. With all the stimulus programs , tax season started January 2020 and hasn’t stopped yet.
People are creatures of habit. The ones who are on your doorstep April 10th, will be the same as the group that shows up May 10th this year. Extending this won’t change a thing.
I don't know where we are, but we are making darn good time.
I still haven't received 1099 from an investment account. Tax lady said no problem she can get them done but delays piss me off.

Curious as to what the likes of TurboTax/H&R Block tax software offer compared to going to a CPA ? I know a close friend who is the Dean of Accounting at a local college and he claims more than 95% of folks can get by by using those programs and with the constant updates feature keeps taxpayers aware of changes. That said he doesn't seem to mind making a few extra $$ from those wanting him to do their taxes. Maybe it's easier to focus on 1 return for him vs a classroom of accounting students? Appreciate your insight.
