How fast a 2000 ranger 518 should go with 200hp motor?

Can anyone tell me How fast a 2000 ranger 518 should go with 200hp motor?
Is Low 50's slower than it should go assuming average load of gear with full tank and 1 or 2 fishermen?

Should be faster then that. My 1998 518 DVS will do 68-70 GPS. No problem. 2012 Mercury 200 ProXS. 6 jackplate. What motor and rpms are you running.

I got a 2000 518vx with a 2.5 200 EFI. I have only owned it 3 months. Best that I have ever seen is 67. 65 is about average top speed with 2 people. Usually I'm turning a 25 tempest or 25 trophy to get that at 5800 rpms.

I have not purchased it yet......I was going off what the seller said. I was thinking that was a little bit slow for that boat with a 200 HP.
Maybe the boat is wet.....You guys have given me the information I need to evaluate the boat after I test drove it.

    Thank you

Motor is a 2012 Mercury Pro XS 200 hp. Tempest 25. 6” manual plate Rpm is 5600-5700 WOT. Been a great boat. Will be for sale soon. Picking up new boat as soon as the roads clear up.

I've got a 2000 518vx just repowered with a 2020 Merc Pro xs 200 and a 24p Fury all holes plugged with a pair of 12' Talons and I've hit 65 at about 5100 rpm. I still have plenty of trim left and should be able to get 700-900 more rpm out of it once I get a little more comfortable with that speed. I'm thinking I can get about 70-72 mph out of it. That being said, the original motor was a 2000 Evinrude Ficht 175 and I hit 57.5 mph with that before it died on me (not sure of rpm). So, with a 200 on a 518, you should be getting at least mid 60's.

Low 50s its either set up wrong, or there is motor issues. Way faster boat then that .

BassnChris, if it doesn’t have a jackplate and a crappy prop,it might be only running in the 50’s. That boat needs a 6” plate to get it moving.

Agree it needs a plate to perform its best but a crap prop and no jackplate wont lose ya 15 mph. May not be getting WOT. Really need RPM numbers..

Here's a video I did a few years back of my boat, I lost a little speed once I bolted the heavy Ultrex to the bow though. I think I hit 69 and some change in this video, I've ran it over 70 in optimal conditions though, by myself with all my tackle.

Agree with others, seems a bit on the low side. I'm running a z20 with a 225 and has the 4 bank batteries along with dual power poles - each of the toys tends to drop the speed a click or two.

Cool video 'Pete'...how the h*ll did you keep you cap on?!?!?!?

Thanks Mike, really had to tighten it down. It left a mark on my forehead for a few hours afterwards. LOL
