    Today with the worked 22 tempest plus, me at 205 pounds, all my gear, empty live wells and a full tank of gas I ran 69.5 mph at 6120 rpm.

    We actually have a local connection. Austal is a local aluminum Littoral Navy ship builder and major employer in the port of Mobile. As the name suggests Austal is an Australian company and a great corporate partner for Mobile and our economy.

    Airbus building passenger jets here is another great company we are happy that chose Mobile from a long list of candidates.

    when we tested mine with the 24 Fury, 2 people, 1/2 tank of gas but next to no gear, it did 69 but only 5480, and that was in the first 45 mins of break in. Speed was good, rpm’s were too low and handing was crappy. We knew straight up that prop was wrong but the dealer simply had nothing better at the time to test.

    I am going to put the unworked 23 Tempest Plus on and see what it does now that it has gotten cooler. I will post the results when I run it next. Current water temps here are 65F and air temps 30F-60F.

    I've also heard of issues with the Pro XS 4S's. Loss of top end and smoking. I haven't been able to verify this but it comes from a good source. So far, Merc's answer/fix, is to prop down to get the required rpm's but loss of top end is then the new issue. IMO, horsepower is horsepower so, 2S or 4S, it's all the same. You shouldn't have any issue with a 25 Tempest.

    Lack of prop slip due to the better hydrodynamics of the new lower units is why you have to drop pitch.

    The issue no one talks about is the technology for the motors increased exponentially but the props have stayed the same. Someone needs to go to the design board and come out with a new line of props for these motors/gearcases.

    Would you put a tire designed in 1970 on a 2020 Ferrari and then when the tire won’t corner or hold say the car sucks? That’s pretty much what is going on that no one talks about.

    That's a good analogy, Dave. Currently... the "closest" thing to newly developed props for the bass market are the Fury and Fury-4. However... even the Fury was initially designed with gearcases that had slip numbers in the 9%-10% range with a GOOD setup.

    Silvertalon... we "hear" of all kinds of things here in the forums. That's because folks come here for ASSISTANCE and for Technical Advice. What you DON'T see are the thousands of folks that go to the water every week without a care, concern or problem... grinning at the torque and performance they're now enjoying with these engines.

    In most cases, there is a simple explanation for these situations.

    Can anyone confirm that the Bravo 1 XS and the Bravo 1 FS, the only difference is XS has 8 vent holes v’s FS having 4. Everything else is identical??

    I have a unworked tempest 23 on mine, since I don’t have vessel view I can’t give you an accurate RPM, but my boat will touch 69 miles an hour while I’m solo, water temp last time I was out was 55°. I would agree with you, if you’re only seeing 62 mph and your 2.75 inches PTP, somethings not right.

    That is correct, according to the information we were given, the number of PVS openings is the difference.
